I believe I have recommended more consultation with your parents about your online activity, because the online world is unsafe, especially for non-adults, and it's a lot worse than 2 decades ago. When I was around 11 or 12, I knew I would be in trouble if I talked to others online (that doesn't apply now, as I'm in my late 20s).

The point is that you're either involved or doing things that are dangerous, because even if it is Gffggff or whoever did that attack on Greek Vikidia, it would reflect upon you: What one person does online reflects upon the entire household, namely if the provider logs your IP address. Wikis only log user accounts to IP's via CheckUser, though you can be grateful that I don't use that on any of the wikis that I run, especially with public registration disabled. You already got in trouble at Nookipedia, and if what happened isn't put under control soon, the same could be with Vikidia. Gstar (talk) 14:48, 25 May 2025 (UTC)

Whether it's a real person or a role-play from you, the point remains the same: vandalizing wikis is an offense that results in bans, whether 1 month, 6 months, or even permanently, depending on site policy and arbitrary decision from staff members. And I certainly don't want my work here on desert, Bulbasaur, Mario, and other pages to be ruined by others, nor would other contributors with theirs. Your snowsherrill.com brand has had similar incidents where you've requested my assistance to block spammers and vandals, but since Vikidia is outside of your jurisdiction, I'm having frank discussions about this because a staff member here could easily use Special:Checkuser and associate it with your IP address (which are kept confidential from regular users), unlike where if it's your brother or a friend causing messes on your own wiki, which is an issue relative to your sites. For example, what if someone about two streets away from me did vandalism, and the staff did checkuser and found similar range in IPs? That could still reflect on me because it's relative to the area where I live. That's why you can't let this follow you to other wikis, including other troublemakers, otherwise your role as a contributor would be restricted, and real-world intervention like revoking electronics from the perpetrators would be the best way to put a stop to it. No, Mario Wiki and Fanonpedia is good enough. Also, seeing as it doesn't appear to work with G Translate, add the Immersive Translate extension and use that to translate, although it'd only mean copying one paragraph after the next. Alternatively, copypaste the entire article source into Google Translate.

Plus, when you translate an article from another language version of Vikidia, you must specify this in its talk page with a link to the original article you translated. Blockage

Hello Gstar, I saw that you recently blocked this IP user as a reason for having vabdalized the encyclopedia and for a period of 3 months. I find your blocking much too quick (the IP did not receive a warning) and a blocking much too long for an IP that had only made 2 bad modifications. I am allowing myself to write this message to you because I am myself an administrator on the French version of Vikidia and for me this blocking is much too impulsive especially since the IP cannot defend itself on his talk page and you should know that IP addresses often change owners so a 3 month block could perhaps block people who just wanted to contribute nicely. In your place I would have first warned the IP on his discussion page and if these continued despite the warnings I would have blocked him for 2/3 days but no more. On Vikidia in French, It is said that if an administrator wants to block someone for more than a month, there must be a consultation between administrators. I agree with JanusFr (t •  c •  b), three months seems a bit excessive in such case in my opinion (the IP has only made two vandal edits). I think that blocking for a few days or a week would have been more appropriate, since a short block is enough to stop the vandalism for good in this kind of case. If the IP starts vandalizing again, then it will be time to block for longer. I see you've adjusted the block anyway, so much the better. Phoebe2220: Funky Kong. I asked CaesarAugustus (who said it isn't necessary, though, aside from simple attribution link) and I'm currently aiming to wikify it for Vikidia. Importing is the most risk-free method to attributing cc-by-sa content. I still ask you don't copy from Wikipedia articles here in general, though, because it'd defeat the purpose of Vikidia being more easily digestible articles not only for ages 8-13 but also people like me. The priority is to translate from more complete Vikidia wikis in other languages or build articles ground-up, which you seem to entrust the former task to me more.

Regarding Wikipedia content, I'm just doing it case-by-case, mainly if the article is redirected, since I cannot trust Wikipedia to upkeep the redirects in the long run. Creative Commons requires a list of authors--if that can't be provided locally, even from the article being deleted, it's ineligible for reuse. I've already asked Wikipedia to undelete the page histories of countless video game articles in the past.

I still ask you don't import on sites that I host, as it creates a mess with the revision ID's, and on my host my rules, I want the revision IDs to be as organic to how many edits were done locally as possible. Hope this helps. Gstar (talk) 15:32, 26 August 2025 (UTC)
