What is a STUB here?[edit | edit source]

The definition of a stub on the English Wikipedia is in part:

A stub is an article that, although providing some useful information, is too short to provide encyclopedic coverage of a subject, and that is capable of expansion.
English Wikipedia

The fr.vikidia help page on stubs: Aide:Article à compléter focusses on technicalities like having categories and internal links.

But there is no clear definition of what is "too short" for a children's encyclopedia.

I tend to write articles of only a few short sentences which give the most important facts you might find in a printed desk encyclopedia. Example, John Cowper Powys. I am not marking them as stubs because I feel all the basic information is there. Certainly, they can be expanded, more detail can be added, but are they really stubs?

I've noticed that fr.vikidia often has overly-long articles IMO. When I use one as a basis for en.vikidia I slash mercilessly because there is so much hemming and hawing and irrelevant detail and opinions. (* ducks from incoming brickbats *)
