Regarding Boad Bot

Hi Adnan. Could I please ask you to only use your human account (Adnan) when commenting and writing articles & messages please?

Bot accounts require permission to run on this wiki, and they're normally used for automatic or semi-automatic tasks like spell checking, finding mistakes, checking references and so on. They don't usually post independently.

You can request permission for your bot to be flagged as a bot by clicking this link and posting a request there.

If the bot edits again without the appropriate flag, it will be blocked until you've requested one for it!

The accounts I block are based on a specific pattern, and the suspicions are long standing and very well founded. It's why we leave the talk page unlocked for these automatic accounts to respond to us (which of course, they won't, because they're all spam bots). I would rather stop them ahead of time, than have advertisements for adult products, gambling, and things which shouldn't be targeted at children, all over the site. Trust me, I know what I'm doing! Welcoming users

Hi Adnan. I noticed a comment you left on the talk page of another user, where you welcomed them and then said that you are aware that you shouldn't welcome users unless they've contributed.

I would ask you to abide by that rule; we only welcome users once they're contributing, because otherwise we could be welcoming spammers and bad users to the site.

We don't mind you welcoming people, but don't do it unless they've actually made some real edits to the site!

Re: Boad Bot

I noticed your message above saying that you're taking some time off. However, a short time ago, your bot edited Water. Since I've previously told you about not making human edits from a bot account, and your bot still isn't flagged, I'm going to apply an indefinite block to Boad Bot, until an application for a bot flag is approved and you have automated software in place to run the account. DaneGeld Yes, it's true. However, this is one change because I visit Vikidia every day before checking blocks, other or my accounts, recent changes, history of various pages. If you thought I wouldn't answer when I changed a page, I didn't think so. For me, a vacation from Vikidia is a vacation in a way that I will not make more than five changes to this website. Adnan: I gave you clear instructions above, on how to get your bot flagged, and told you that you must only use your human account to make human edits. I think that's enough of a warning for you to understand what you're doing was wrong. A vacation away for you, doesn't mean you use another account to edit while you're away. It means you don't edit while you're away! And warning the suspected bot accounts about being bots is pointless. You're talking to a computer and they won't respond... Warning concerning your entry on Aggression of Palestine

I am going to have to caution you over your entry about Palestine and the message you left on the talk page. I have removed both.

We do not allow articles where they are made up solely of personal opinions of a user, original research, or where they are biased in favour of one side or another.

Leaving political statements such as those you posted on the talk page is also a strict no-no.

If you want to write about the conflict between the Palestinian Authority and Israel, you need to write actual facts, not opinions, and make the article unbiased. The goal should be that the reader can understand it, without having any idea which side of the argument the writer supports.

I hope you understand why I've done what I've done. It's necessary.

I've also removed an impolite remark from your user page: telling others not to interfere in your business is very rude. The whole point of a wiki is that everyone can edit it.

Part of the block also consists of the language you used in telling others not to interfere in our business. That's not for you to do, and it's rude. I maintain that the block is valid. You are getting to be too much, Adnan. I have removed your warning to User:TTessari about their editing. The user isn't a bot, never has been or will be a bot.

The user is part of a group who are all editing about the same subject, most likely they're school students; we often get groups of them working on editing projects.

You seem to have this complex about people being bots or doing things wrong. It's not up to you to "give" users "a chance". You warn people for no reason or the wrong reasons, you behave on here like you're in charge, and here's a newsflash; you're not.

I'm putting you on warning now that you either need to start chilling out and focusing on your edits, rather than targeting and interfering in something you don't fully understand, or you're going to be heading out of here with a block.

We've done our best here to work with you, but you've had multiple alerts about different problems, your behaviour, etc.

If you're going to edit here, edit. Write articles, help improve things rather than telling others they can do it. You're walking the tightrope.

You asked what I expect from you, Adnan... So here goes...(deep breath);

• Don't tell people off unless you know that what they're doing is wrong.

• You can write articles too, so I'd like you to concentrate on that, and leave the running of the site to us!

• Not everybody is a bot, but we block some that are easy to recognise, because their usernames are patterns that match known bot types. Please don't accuse or suggest users are bots, unless they've done something like advertising on their user page, or posting spam...

• Finally, please remember that even the shortest article can be made bigger. Please don't mark "stub" pages for deletion. If it's short, make it bigger :)

I know people have lives outside of Vikidia; Ajeje and I do too, so do all the administrators and bureaucrats. Most of the time I'm on here, I'm tidying up or sorting things out, or blocking people.

What we need is things to be much less stressful, but if everyone followed the rules, I'd have nothing to do!

I'll lay off for a bit and let you chill; I'm going to do the same.

You can upload a file, but you can't upload material which is copyrighted to Wikimedia Commons. What you'd have to do is find a freely licensed image (something with a Creative Commons Share-Alike license, also known as a CC-BY-SA) and then upload it locally to Vikidia. Commons wouldn't use it. Vikidia:Blocking rules

Hi Adnan. I just saw your page in the recent changes. I like the idea of establishing some firm rules here about when to block and when not to block. I did start to discuss this some time ago with Angelo (Ajeje Brazorf) but we never got round to making a blocking policy for this wiki. In the absence of rules for something here, our reference is the English Wikipedia, and I think it would be good if we could move away from using their rules and make some of our own. I don't think it's a good idea to put the page in the Vikidia namespace yet, until we have something firm and useable to put out. Would you mind if I move the content of the page into your sandbox, so you can work on it? Maybe Ajeje and I could put in some ideas and come up with something that lays out proper rules for the site! I think that's a good start, though! DaneGeld (talk) 22:36, 10 January 2022 (UTC)
