Hi Adnan. I just realised while I was looking back over my old edits from last year, who our visitor with the IP address was. The one that didn't want to make an account was the same IP address that BlueCoin / Black Cat / Sky High used in September last year to sock and mess about on here. I know now why they didn't make an account - it was because they couldn't! Anyhow, blocked the single IP for 3 years, so they're not coming back anytime soon! :) DaneGeld (talk) 20:23, 19 January 2022 (UTC)

Category:Active Users

Hi Adnan. I just saw your category, and while it's something useful, I don't think I can allow it to be on here. The thing is, it would mean that when a user went inactive, the system would have to realise this, and remove the category from that person's userpage - and that's not something the Mediawiki software is able to do. Having said this, I'd like your thoughts on it before I consider whether to remove it or not. What do you think? DaneGeld (talk) 18:34, 20 January 2022 (UTC)

  • The "number of articles" has a live link to the Special:Statistics page (with a lot of information in a regularly updated chart)
  • The "active users" has no link

Summary for an edit

Hello, Adnan. Here's a suggestion for a good practice to adopt: When you edit a page, always fill in the "Summary" field before you press "Save changes." (I actually fill it in even before Show preview (without saving), so I don't forget!). Keep it short so it's easy to read. Examples: + category; + Stub template; DEFAULTSORT, proofread, copy-edit... (you'll see these and other examples in my Contributions). As you're so active - it will even help you have a quick overview of your own activity when you review your Contributions. Concerning your Template supporting Ukraine.

Hi. I am going to be discussing your template with the other administrators, with a view to deleting it. Whilst I understand your view and the purpose of the template, I do not feel it is appropriate to have a political statement placed in such a way.

It is not right to have something supporting one side or another; Vikidia is there for everyone. I know you mean well, but I also intend to raise the French Vikidia using this template too. I will be in touch with you once I have deliberated with the other admins.

Don't worry about it. I understood your intentions and why you copied it from the French Vikidia. I have nominated it for deletion there, too. I spoke with the other two main admins, CaesarAugustus and Ajeje Brazorf, and we've all said the same thing; the template isn't appropriate here. We support all children, not just some of them, and it gives the wrong impression. We've decided it should be deleted, and I've done that. I was on Wikipedia. The rules there are a lot stricter for me, so I thought because both projects are a Wikimedia project, so I thought the same should be done here, even if the username is not so inappropriate.
