Artemis is the ancient Greek goddess of hunting, forests and hills, virginity, and the moon. She is the daughter of Zeus and a mortal woman named Leto. Artemis is the twin sister of Apollo. The deer and the cypress were sacred to her. Bow, arrows, stags, hunting dogs are her symbols. Her Roman equivalent was Diana.
