New policy for check users : request for opinions

Dear Vikidians,

The Board of the Vikidia association is discussing a new policy for CheckUsers, which you can find here. Therefore, I would like to ask you to give your opinion to know which points should be improved before approving the document in the coming weeks.

Opinions

• I think Checkusers should only check someones account if they have a pattern in the edits. If checkusers find it to be the same, do not block socks infinitely, they should be blocked for a certain period of time, especially if they are a good sock. CheckUser should be granted only if a user has identified patterns a lot. S25265 Try yourself!! 20:37, 21 March 2022 (UTC)
• As someone who has been handy at picking up quite a few socks on here, I am acutely aware of the problems surrounding them. Galdrad: I have no disagreements with the new policy. I think it looks absolutely fine. I would like to see a more rapid response to CU requests though. I have had one outstanding here now almost 3 months, unattended to. They're very easy to catch, especially the ones who object to the CU being used against them... DaneGeld (talk) 22:35, 21 March 2022 (UTC)

  Thank you, DaneGeld: for the comment. Just to precise, the proposed policy document should not change anything to the current practice. We only intend to implement here on Vikidia an equivalent of the CheckUser policy page on the Wikimedia projects which correspond to our current way of practicing CU.
