Regarding your comment on your userpage[edit source]

Hello Pbsouthwood. My name is Christian and I'm one of the administrators here. I noticed your comment on your userpage, concerning the deletion of your work by Ajeje Brazorf. The rules on this site in their basic form, are listed in the welcome message, which you didn't get.

Vikidia in all languages does not allow users to copy articles in from Wikipedia. Articles found to have been copied are summarily removed. We don't mind users writing articles as long as they write them in their own words.

I can't force you to come back, but I wanted to make you aware of why your work was removed.

If you have any questions, please direct them to me.

Thanks,

DaneGeld, I suggest you put those rules in a more prominent place. I looked for the rules before I started a new page, that is how I work. There were remarkably few, and that one was not apparent. Summary deletion is appropriate for copyright violations, plagiarism, blatant advertising, patent nonsense, personal attacks, hoaxes and the like. My work was none of these. Your basic principles recommend using Wikipedia as a model: I quote: Vikidia has policies and guidelines. Apart from the general principles, they can be interpreted and evolve over time. On points that haven't been discussed, established or otherwise decided, the guidelines of Wikipedia in English should be the reference. Don't worry: nothing has to be perfect at first shot, you don't need to know all the rules to start collaborating. Every past version of a page is saved, so any mistakes can be corrected. Still, try to learn more and more and become an even better Vikidia editor. unquote. I am fairly well acquainted with English Wikipedia's rules, This would not be tolerated there. Pbsouthwood (talk) 14:22, 24 June 2022 (UTC)
Those policies and guidelines you mention, refer to the most basic of rules; if we don't have a rule for something, we default to what Wikipedia would do. In this case however, I will post the welcome template above here, so you can see what everyone else sees.
will arrange to set a basic page of rules and make these available to all users, prominently, on the front page and in the sidebar. I am aware you're well versed in Wikipedia's rules; this however, is not Wikipedia. If we allowed people to copy text in from other wikis, we'd become nothing more than a mirror of WP, which we don't want. That's why it's not allowed. Using a WP article as a guide is fine, but the work must be rewritten from your own words. DaneGeld (Talk to me!) Dove peace.svg 14:52, 24 June 2022 (UTC)
Hi there, I didn't came here for a while... This newcomer (and creation) come after a discussion somewhere else, that's why I am aware about it.
There is a clear rule (which vas voted) on fr.vikidia regarding copiing Wikipedia, which forbid it with some exceptions : fr:Aide:Wikipédia et Vikidia and the poll fr:Vikidia:Prise de décision/Copie de Wikipédia. I guess it can be adopted here less formally, at least regarding the standard english Wikipedia. Yet there is Simple English Wikipedia, which has no equivalent in French, and which articles may fit nearly directly to Vikidia. A few years ago, I was promoting to import (selected) articles from SEWP, and I imported quite a few of them, see : Vikidia:Import of article from SEWP and Wikijunior. Did you discuss and dismissed this option here?
I still think we should take (and sometimes rewrite) the good fiting articles from SEWP (of course there is also the fact that the applicable rules or accepted use should be accessible as much as possible). Astirmays (talk) 15:28, 24 June 2022 (UTC)
Notification Astirmays: This is ridiculous. The welcome message tells users not to copy and paste in from Wikipedia, and it's been like that since I joined - I got the same welcome message myself. I personally believe we should stick to that, or we'll become a stockpile of Wikipedia articles with no user thought behind them. I don't mind people using them as a guide, but a straight import from SEWP or Wikijunior will devalue other people's work here. DaneGeld (Talk to me!) Dove peace.svg 15:45, 24 June 2022 (UTC)
Oh sorry, I thought that I have sent you a message. If the rules allows to copy-paste articles from WP, we'll become a sort of Wikipedia 2.0.--ÀNCILU (a.k.a. Ajeje Brazorf) 13:04, 24 June 2022 (UTC)
User:Ajeje Brazorf What rules, listed where? I still have not found them. Pbsouthwood (talk) 14:22, 24 June 2022 (UTC)

Where is this written other than in the welcome message, which was added to this page well after the article was created, modified and deleted without notice? I cannot find it.
How are the rules made on this site? I ask this out of mild interest, since I am unlikely to edit another article here. Your rules are your rules, but you apply them in a user unfriendly way, which you would be well advised to change if you want to attract and keep editors. I have nothing invested here so lose nothing by quitting now and applying my time and efforts where they will be useful. I mention this because this site could potentially be something worthwhile, but not if this is typical of how things are handled.
By the way, the material I copied from SEWP is basically my own words, or at least mostly my own words, It may have been modified by someone else. What was deleted here was almost entirely in my own words. Cheers, Pbsouthwood (talk) 16:11, 24 June 2022 (UTC)
