The National Basketball Association (NBA) is the largest basketball league in North America and the world. Its headquarters are in New York. It was merged in 1949 from the BAA (Basketball Association of America) and the NBL (National Basketball League).
The league is divided into two conferences: Eastern and Western. Each conference is divided into three divisions: Northwest, Southwest, and Pacific in the West, Atlantic, Southeast, and Central in the East. Each division includes 5 teams, making the total per conference at 15. Altogether, the league has 30 teams.
