The Philadelphia 76ers (also called the Philadelphia Sixers) are a professional basketball team from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania that plays in the National Basketball Association (NBA). The team was founded in 1939. Their game stadium is called the Wachovia Center. The team's name was chosen in remembrance of the 1776 signing of the Declaration of Independence of the United States of America. Notable players who played for the team include Julius Erving (Dr. J), Moses Malone, Allen Iverson, Jrue Holiday, Ben Simmons, and Joel Embiid.
