Rutger Jan, Count Schimmelpenninck (31 October 1761 – 15 February 1825) was a Dutch lawyer, diplomat, and politician who served as Grand Pensionary of Batavia from 1805 to 1808.

He studied law at Leiden University between 1781 and 1784. He became a lawyer at Amsterdam in 1784. He was one of the leaders of the revolution against William V, Prince of Orange.
