James Joyce

James Joyce (2 February 1882 – 13 January 1941) was an Irish writer. He wrote short stories and novels. He created new ways of writing and experimented with language. His best-known writings include The Dubliners, Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, Ulysses and Finnegan's Wake.

He lived most of his adult life in Switzerland and Paris. He had a hard life with blindness, money troubles, censorship, and his daughter's mental illness. He died just a month before his 59th birthday.
