The story of the movie[edit | edit source]

Manoj Kumar Sharma was born in the robber-infested Chambal Valley. He is the son of an upright clerk working for the mayor and the grandson of a subedar who died in action. His father and grandmother are sincere and do not believe in corruption. Because of this conviction, Manoj's father is fired for hitting a corrupt officer. Manoj prepares cheat slips (dummy) like all his batch mates for his class XII final exam. The local MLA influenced the counterfeiting system and ordered all students to pass. However, newly transferred Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Officer Dushyant Singh ignored the MLA at the school and arrested him when the headmaster later tried to bribe him. As a result, all the students, including Manoj, failed the exam. Meanwhile, his father challenged his dismissal in the High Court, leaving the family's burden on Manoj and his elder brother. The brothers assemble a traveling rickshaw and get paid to help at home.

Manoj's brother is falsely arrested for assaulting the mayor's local aide when he tries to get his passengers to board the bus. Corrupt police officers try to frame them, too. This persuades him to fetch his grandfather's rifle to save his brother from being shot by the station house officer. But instead of fetching the rifle, Manoj rushes to Dushyant's house, who bails out his brother. When Manoj requests how to become a high-ranking officer like Dushyant, Dushyant advises him to "stop cheating."

Manoj passed his twelfth examination without cheating a year later, albeit in the third division. I decided to pursue graduation in history and Hindi literature to become a DSP. His grandmother gave him all his savings to study at the Public Service Commission (PSC) coaching center in Gwalior, but he lost all his belongings when he fell asleep on the bus. As he wanders the streets on an empty stomach, another piece of news hits him: the Madhya Pradesh government has decided to stop the Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission Group-I examination for the next three years, as the government lacks funds to recruit new officers. This dashed his dream of becoming a directly recruited Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP). He wandered until he fainted but was given food by the owner of a local hotel near the local railway station.

She meets Pritam Pandey, who has come to study for the PSC exam, at the hotel. Pandey's wealthy contractor father calls him to prepare for the UPSC exam in Delhi. Manoj learned about the UPSC exam and traveled with Pritam to Delhi to study and become an IPS officer. There, they meet Gauri Bhaiya, who is making her last attempt for the sixth time to clear the exam. At the time of Gauri Bhai, there was an opportunity to take the exam six times, but now there is an opportunity to take the exam four times. He offers Manoj a job opportunity and a place to study. However, Gauri Bhaiya is unable to pass Bhaiva in her final attempt. Deciding to move forward, Gauri Bhaiya opened a coaching institute called 'Restart' and a tea stall and offered her services for free.

The following year, Manoj attempted the UPSC preliminary examination but failed. With Gauri Bhai's help, Manoj took the exam and cleared the preliminary exam. While visiting a coaching center, she meets and falls in love with Shraddha Joshi from Mussoorie, aiming for UPSC and Uttarakhand Public Service Commission. Manoj failed to pass his main examination that year despite his best efforts. His initially budding relationship with Shraddha hits a brief standstill when she discovers his true identity as an aeronautical engineer rather than a literature graduate. He then decided to work harder, although it yielded the same result. Manoj returns home to find that his grandmother is dead.

A dejected Gauri Bhaiya takes Manoj to her home and tells him to quit working in the library and the flour shop and concentrate fully on his studies. Manoj continued to study and finally cleared the main exam. Shraddha cleared her UKPSC exam to become a Deputy Collector during this period. At this time, Pritam, who has repeatedly failed all his exams, becomes jealous of Manoj and insults him and Shraddha by claiming that he slept with Manoj. This causes a distance in their relationship, but it is eventually resolved, although Manoj is very angry with Pritam. Manoj already realizes that Pritam wants to work as a reporter even though his father is forcing him to go to UPSC, and he advises Pritam to go against his father's words.

Manoj gave his UPSC exam interview and answered all the questions honestly. Shraddha gives Manoj a letter written by herself asking him to marry her. Failing in 12th, he had to listen to many things in the UPSC viva. Manoj happily gave the interview and came out with a smile. Two months later, when the results are announced, Manoj realizes he has been promoted to an IPS officer, breaking down into tears of emotion. A year later, he became a high-ranking IPS officer in Uttarakhand to stay with Shraddha and went to meet DSP Dushyant Singh at Mandsaur police station in Madhya Pradesh and thanked the DSP for encouraging him to give up cheating and gave an invitation card to Manoj-Shraddha's wedding. Dushyant doesn't initially recognize Manoj but later fully remembers him and hugs him joyfully at his success. The film ends with Manoj celebrating his marriage with his friends and family, finally winning against the tide of the cruel and competitive education system; Pritam appears as a reporter, finally following his dreams.
