White Mane (French: Crin-blanc) is a short French movie. It was released in 1953. White Mane was directed by Albert Lamorisse, and stars Alain Emery. The movie was a critical success. It won the 1953 Cannes Film Festival Palme d'Or for Best Short Film, and the 1953 Prix Jean Vigo for Short Film.

Story[edit | edit source]

The story is about a poor boy named Folco who befriends a wild horse in the marshes of Camargue, France. Ranchers in the area try to spook White Mane by setting fire to the marshes.

White Mane and Folco refuse to surrender, and ride into the sea. The narrator tells the viewer that White Mane took Folco to an island where children and horses can live together forever.
