Roman Fyodorovich von Ungern-Sternberg (January 10th, 1886 — September 15th, 1921; Russian: Роман Фёдорович фон Унгерн-Штернерг) was a Balt German baron who fought during the Russian Civil War in Mongolia until his capture and his execution by the Bolsheviks. He was known for his cruelty, his mysticism and his antisemitism. He defended the independence of Mongolia against China and the Bolsheviks.
