Project Korikath is a project that is working to bridge the knowledge gap in the open knowledge ecosystem of the Wikimedia movement in various formats.
This project works with visual knowledge by donating images in Wikimedia Commons and utilising those in various projects of wikimedia. Under this project, the members identify places and monuments in their locality with Wikipedia entries that don't have quality images and do photowalks personally to provide those Wikipedia entries with images.

It was founded on 16 August 2022 in Bangladesh by Wasiul Bahar.[1]

Visual Documentation: The project identifies local places, monuments, and landmarks—especially those with Wikipedia entries lacking quality images—and organizes photowalks to capture and upload relevant photographs.
Media Donation: Volunteers donate images to Wikimedia Commons, ensuring these media files are used across Wikipedia, Wikidata, and other Wikimedia projects for maximum impact.
Community Involvement: Project Korikath involves both a dedicated photography team and the general public, providing training and workshops to encourage contributions from newcomers and making the process accessible even with basic camera-capable smartphones.
Promotion of Lesser-Known Sites: The project aims to highlight lesser-known structures and cultural heritage sites by adding high-quality images to their respective Wikimedia entries.
Supportive Environment: Efforts are made to create a friendly, inclusive space for new contributors, following Wikimedia’s friendly space policy.
Geographic Scope and Activities While the project began in Bangladesh, it now operates in over 12 countries with more than 100 volunteers.
Activities include photowalks, workshops, and competitions to engage communities and expand the collection of visual knowledge.
The project also responds to requests for images of specific locations, especially in and around Dhaka, by dispatching its photography team.
Name Significance Korikath (Bengali: কড়িকাঠ) refers to the wooden beam supporting the roof in traditional Bangladeshi houses, symbolizing the project's mission to support and expand the foundation of open visual knowledge.
