Mao Zedong

Mao Zedong (26 December 1893 – 9 September 1976) was the leader of China from October 1949 until he died in September 1976. Mao Zedong was a communist which meant that he thought wealth should be shared equally.
He was born to a peasant family in Shaoshan, Hunan. He studied in Changsha where he was influenced by the 1911 Revolution. In 1921, Mao founded a party called the CCP ("Chinese Communist Party"). He fought a deadly civil war against the Kuomintang (KMT), the "Chinese Nationalist Party". He was victorious and took over mainland China.
As leader, he targeted landlords, intellectuals and anyone who was against him.
