John Jay

John Jay was a United States diplomat, judge, and statesman. He lived from 1745 to 1829.
Jay was president of the Continental Congress from 1778 to 1779.
He helped the U.S. and Great Britain make peace with the Treaty of Paris.
He was made the first Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court by president George Washington. He was in office from 1789 to 1795.
