Aparajit Apu is the second movie in a trilogy directed by Satyajit Ray and released in 1956. The film is based on the last fifth of the novel "Pather Panchali" and the first third of the book "Aparajit" by Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay. It follows the story of Apu from childhood to adolescence and college in Kolkata. The film won 11 international awards, including the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival.
