Abbas the Great was Shah (King) of Persia from 1587 to 1629.
He lived from 1571 to 1629.
Abbas made Esfahan the capital of Persia. It was a rich and beautiful city under his rule.
He got rid of the Ottoman and Uzbek soldiers in Persia.
He was a kind ruler, and treated people like the Christians well. But he was cruel to his personal enemies, even those in his family.
