A. K. Fazlul Huq
Abul Kashem Fazlul Huq, born on 26 October 1873 and passed away on 27 April 1962, was a renowned Bengali lawyer, writer, and Member of Parliament. He was famously known as Sher-e-Bongal and 'Huq Sahib' among the political circles and the ordinary people. He was also a prominent diplomat of Bengal in the first half of the 20th century.
He held several political positions, including Mayor of Calcutta in 1935, Prime Minister of undivided Bengal from 1937 to 1943, Chief Minister of East Bengal in 1954, Home Minister of Pakistan in 1955, and Governor of East Pakistan from 1956 to 1958. He played a significant role in forming the United Front, and his Krishak Praja Party represented the interests of low-caste Hindu and Muslim farmers in Bengal.
In the past, there was a fight between the Muslim League and the Peasant Praja Party over their differing agendas. Overall, Abul Kashem Fazlul Huq was an iconic figure in the political history of Bengal and contributed significantly to the welfare of the people.
