Significant persons[edit | edit source]
- Charlemagne was crowned emperor on 25 December 800 (so, just a few days before the start of the 9th century) and reigned until his death on 28 January 814.
- Muḥammad ibn Mūsā al-Khwārizmī, a Persian mathematician, geographer and astronomer, died in 850. Considered as one of the fathers of algebra, his works also contributed to the diffusion of the decimal system and the word algorithm derives from the Latin form of his name.
