Yevgeny Viktorovich Prigozhin (Russian: Евгений Викторович Пригожин; 1 June 1961 – 23 August 2023), was a Russian oligarch,[1] and leader of the Wagner Group from 2014 until his presumed dead in 2023. He was also a close confidant of Russian president Vladimir Putin.[2]

On 23 August 2023, Prigozhin was presumed dead in a airplane crash in Tver Oblast, north of Moscow.
