Sockpuppetry is behaviour involving the use of multiple accounts in a harmful or abusive way. We call these multiple accounts Sockpuppets and the people who make the accounts, Sockmasters. Sockpuppet accounts are used for lots of different things, such as getting round blocks and bans, trying to turn votes in one or another direction, for harassing other users, or vandalising pages.

If someone is found to be using sockpuppets, both their own account, and any additional ones that they have made, will be blocked. A record will be kept of all of the sockpuppet accounts, and any others which are made will also be blocked indefinitely. Any IP addresses used as part of a sockpuppet network will be blocked for a maximum of 1 year.
