Text modification[change | change source]
When a text is modified, the following information is visible before saving a page.
When you click on "Save page", your edit will be saved immediately. DO NOT SUBMIT COPYRIGHTED WORK WITHOUT PERMISSION! Any text you send to Vikidia is legally released under the Creative Commons Attribution/Share-Alike License 3.0 and GNU Free Documentation License (see Vikidia:Copyright for details). You are also promising use that you wrote this yourself, or copied it from a public domain or similar free resource. If you don't want your writing to be edited, erased or redistributed do not submit it here!
Free license or not[change | change source]
On Vikidia, content is placed under a dual license:
- CC-BY-SA 3.0 (Creative Commons Attribution Share-Alike 3.0);
- GFDL (GNU Free Documentation License, retained for compatibility).
When you add content to Vikidia, you must therefore ensure that it is compatible with the CC-BY-SA 3.0 license. Your contributions to Vikidia are also automatically placed under the two licenses mentioned above.
To reuse Vikidia content, you must:
- Place it under the CC-BY-SA 3.0 license;
- Indicate the original author of the document;
- Provide the address of the original article.
What is permitted[change | change source]
It is permitted to copy content that you did not author if it is text from the public domain, or if it is copied from a source that is compatible with the CC-BY-SA 3.0 license (such as Wikipedia under certain conditions). In this case, you must indicate this source when creating the article. See Vikidia:Wikipedia and Vikidia for more information.
What is prohibited[change | change source]
It is prohibited to use copyrighted works unless the author expressly authorizes not only that their text be copied on this occasion and on this site, but also that it be placed under a free license and therefore that it may be copied by any other person without further request for authorization.
Originally licensed under GFDL only, the adoption of the CC-BY-SA 3.0 license for Vikidia was decided during Vikidia:Prise de décision/Changement de licence (in French).
