Starbucks Corporation (Nasdaq: SBUX) is an international coffee and coffeehouse chain based in Seattle, Washington.

Starbucks is the largest coffeehouse company in the world with over 16858 stores in 50 countries, with over 11000 in the United States alone, over 1000 in Canada and over 700 in the UK.

Starbucks drip brewed coffee, espresso-based hot drinks, other hot and cold drinks, coffee beans, salads, hot and cold sandwiches and panini, pastries; And sells items like mugs and glasses.

The company also markets books, music and films through the Starbucks Entertainment division and Hear Music brand. Many of the company's products are seasonal or are made exclusively for the store's area. Grocery stores also sell Starbucks branded ice cream and coffee.

The company has expanded rapidly since Starbucks was founded in a subsequent fashion in Seattle as a local coffee bean roaster and retailer. From the 1990s, Starbucks began opening a new store every workday that continued until the 2000s. The first stores outside the United States or Canada opened in the mid-1990s, and the number of foreign stores is now nearly one-third of all Starbucks stores. The company planned to open a network of 900 new shops outside the United States in 2009 but since 2008 it has also announced the closure of 900 stores in the United States.

Starbucks has been the target of protests based on issues such as fair trade policies, labor relations, environmental impact, political views and anti-competitive processes.
