A Meter is a unit of length. It is equal to around 40 inches but it is not exact due to the fact that an inch is 2.54 cm not just 2.5.

Uses Of Meter[edit | edit source]

  • Nanometer: 1 billionth of a meter. It’s used on small scale and it’s nano stuff should be seen with a microscope.
  • Micrometer: 1 millionth of a meter. It’s used on small scale. Minimum you can see is 100 micrometers because the thickness of paper is 100 micrometers.
  • Millimeter: 1 thousandth of a meter. It’s about 1/10 the length of your finger. 1/10 of a centimeter
  • Centimeter: 1 hundredth of a meter. Two about the size of your finger. 1/10 of a decimeter
  • Kilometer: 1000 Meters. 1.6 kilometers is a mile. Used for measuring distance.
  • Megameter:Not that common but it’s 1000 kilometers. Used for measuring longer distance
  • Gigameter: Not that common either but it’s 1000 megameters. 149.6 gigameters is the distance from earth to the sun.
