LOL means "Laughing Out Loud" or "Laugh Out Loud". It is notably used in chat rooms and text messages for something funny, there are also other stuff related, such as ROFL (or sometimes ROFEL) "Roll on Floor Laughing" and LMAO "Laughing My Ass Off".
