Ketchup is a thick sauce based on tomatoes, with a sweet and sour taste. It is used as a seasoning for unripe potatoes, hamburgers, hot dogs, skewers, etc.

Eating ketchup is a popular way of eating tomatoes that is widely used in fast food. Because high levels of sugar and possibly preservatives are added to the commercially available ketchup, there are concerns about its use and it is thought to have contributed to the spread of obesity and especially childhood obesity.
