Ernest Miller Hemingway (July 21, 1899 – July 2, 1961) was a American writer, journalist and sportsman. Hemingway became one of the most influential writers of the 20th century and was part of the Lost Generation, the generation that came to age during the First World War.

Hemingway's most noticeable novels are The Sun Also Rises (1926), For Whom the Bell Tolls (1940) and The Old Man and the Sea (1952).
