Borax

Borax (common name for sodium tetraborate) is a chemical compound with the formula Na2[B4O5(OH)4] * 8H2O.
Borax has multiple household uses. However, it is toxic and even in small quantities may irritate the eyes or skin or cause mild diarrhea.[1]
Borax is an ingredient to make "slime" at home.[2] It is often added to laundry detergent to get better cleaning effects and remove stains. A related compound, boric acid, is found in medical preparations such as saline solution and contact lens solutions.
