Vice President of the United States 1993-2001 during Bill Clinton's presidency. Al Gore is the son of a Senator and grew up in Washington DC and Tennessee. He was a senator from Tennessee before he became Vice President. He wrote an environmental conservation book entitled Earth in the Balance. He ran for president and was defeated by George W. Bush in 2000.
