A Christmas Carol is a short novel by Charles Dickens. It was first published on 19 December 1843, and it tells the story of Ebenezer Scrooge, a stingy old man who doesn't like to spend money. Scrooge's life is changed on Christmas Eve by several ghosts. The novel was a great success, and has been adapted to plays, movies, and television programs.
