Silas Marner: The Weaver of Raveloe is a novel by Mary Anne Evans.
It was published in 1861 under her pen name George Eliot. The story is about a poor village weaver who adopts a homeless baby found at his fireside. As the baby grows to a young woman, crimes committed far in the past come to light that change her life and the life of Marner forever. Themes are redemption, love, and hope. Ben Kingsley played Silas Marner in a 1985 BBC adaptation.
