The Winter is the season after autumn (fall) and before the spring. It is often associated with snow and cold temperatures. Winter officially begins on the winter solstice and ends on the vernal equinox. The time of year of winter is exactly opposite for the Northern Hemisphere and Southern Hemisphere.

Northern Hemisphere[edit | edit source]

December, January, and February are generally considered the months of winter in the Northern Hemisphere. However, it officially begins on the winter solstice (mid December) and ends on the vernal equinox (mid March).

Southern Hemisphere[edit | edit source]

June, July, and August are generally considered the months of winter in the Southern Hemisphere. However, it officially begins on the winter solstice (mid June) and ends on the vernal equinox (mid September).
