The walrus (Odobenus rosmarus) is a large flippered marine mammal with a discontinuous distribution about the North Pole in the Arctic Ocean and subarctic seas of the Northern Hemisphere.

Brief description[edit | edit source]

Walruses can weigh up to 2000 kg. The length varies from 2.2 to 3.6 m. They can be brown or dark brown, and they have whiskers.

The walrus eats fish, clams, shrimp, molluscs.

Walruses live mostly in shallow waters above the continental shelves.
