Goldenburg111 (Patroller)[edit | edit source]
Goldenburg111 (talk | contribs | blocks | UserRights)
The reason I would like to become a patroller here is because I have been doing an extraordinarily amount of edits here, and joined this wiki on April 17, 2014. So this is my 12th day here on the English Vikidia. Meanwhile, during these days, I have made more than 200 edits on handling English Vikidia policies and other related work, Sri Lanka related work (politicians, the main article itself, which has been turned into an extremely good quality, and will work on some cities too in the mean time). Also, Special:Patrol, may come in handy for me when I became patroller so I can review new edits. I may be new for some, but my cross wiki work and experiences (SWMT member myself, which patroller will be good for me in countervandalism) may help when making official decisions. He also participated actively and efficiently in some patrolling activities as a regular user (notify admins, inform vandal, undo changes...), showing very good potential in fighting vandalism. Dear Goldenburg111, I recognise that you did valuable work on Vikidia during these first 2 weeks. I was however a bit surprised with one set of edits yesterday.....Changing my vote. I Moved this thread from Neutral to Questions/notes below, where I could have put it in the first place. Klipe (talk) 12:07, 4 May 2014 (CEST)

Questions/notes[edit | edit source]
Dear Goldenburg111, I recognise that you did valuable work on Vikidia during these first 2 weeks. I was however a bit surprised with one set of edits yesterday and I sincerely wish patrolling rights not be used -- and your time not be consumed -- for such edits, and certainly not with this kind of edit summary. According to the English Wiktionary, the spelling "colour" is the standard one in the UK and Australia, as well as the one used most in Canada and the rest of the World. The alternate spelling "color" is standard in the US. I don't think we should reject or favour (or favor ) any of them, nor debate on the spelling to be used. What about just trying to keep some consistency within each single article? Klipe (talk) 22:24, 1 May 2014 (CEST)
- I am extremely sorry here. I somehow think that "color" is used in every country now today. I did have some confusions too, especially with "organized". I am really sorry for this incident, and promise to make better choices. I also, not forcing you in a negative voice, that one incident would rather shatter my possibilities of getting patroller. I can see that it somehow hased anoy you, so I sincerely promise not to make moves based on the type of spelling . Regards, --Goldenburg111 (talk) 22:31, 1 May 2014 (CEST)
- Fine. About "-ize"... "-ise" is commonly used in British English. However, the form "-ize", used in the US, is etymologically better and as such promoted by prominent British publishers such as Oxford University Press (see wp:Oxford spelling if interested). Anyway, I would just avoid changing these in the context of patrolling activities and, in case an edit war would start on such matters, basically explain that both variants are acceptable. Klipe (talk) 12:07, 4 May 2014 (CEST)
Hello Goldenburg111, I have some questions, please answer it
- Do you have experience with the flag?
- A
- Well, yes, since this flag is patrolling edits and rollbacking vandalism, since I do have experience basically. I have "editor" or reviewer rights on Wikibooks: https://en.wikibooks.org/w/index.php?title=Special%3ALog&type=rights&user=&page=User%3AGoldenburg111&year=&month=-1&tagfilter=&hide_review_log=1&hide_thanks_log=1 Thank you for your insightful question! --Goldenburg111 (talk) 21:46, 2 May 2014 (CEST)
- Why do you want to be patroller?
- A
- The recent lash of vandalism indicates need for rollback, and I can fill in to patrol Vikidia here since I am living in America (so Vikidia can be patrolled equally). And I can help with newbies since I started a wikiproject to improve and create science articles here. Thanks! --Goldenburg111 (talk) 21:46, 2 May 2014 (CEST)
- Thanks for responding. I'd give the flag at the moment but we have to wait. -- Comedia 21:48, 2 May 2014 (CEST)

- This request is due today, can someone please give me patroller? --Goldenburg111 (talk) 21:24, 7 May 2014 (CEST)

Hello all, I bring myself today for a new type of rights, administrator. You may think, why? Well, I'd like to help Vikidia even more with administrator rights. Such as this page: http://en.vikidia.org/wiki/Cosmos. This page was requested for speedy deletion by me for copyright violations about two days ago, yet no administrators have deleted the page. So, seeing that administration is quite slow. I would like to improve on it. Also, I am trusted also, since I already have patroller rights, in which that allows me to patrol and revert vandalism. I also would like to be administrator so I can deal with deleting and moving pages for my new and upcoming project: Project:Sri Lankan History soon. I'm also one of the most active members as of now participating in requests for rights and patrolling and reverting vandalism. I would also like to add that I am an SWMT member, aka a Small Wiki Monitor Team Member. In which I patrol small wikis and revert vandalism. I reviewed the info found here in May of 2014: [1]. I was a bit shocked that you did not know about the different versions of English, like En-gb, versus En ??? There of course is also Canadian English. Why did you not know "honour" was a valid spelling in En-gb ? Vikidia is an international site. I would expect that someone doing a RFA request would be prepared, and have enough knowledge to know the few different versions of EN that is used in articles. Perhaps English may not be your first language. But even if that were true, a person applying via RFA would need to know how to simply edit in EN or En-gb. Now I did find a positive issue where you reverted an edit by a user/editor on November 17, 2014, and you left this edit summary.I quote, " (diff | hist) . . Yay; 22:33 . . (-30) . . Goldenburg111 (Talk | contribs) (Undo revision 52772 by Yoshi (talk); Just because an article is short, doesn't mean it's up for speedy deletion. Just expand it, it doesn't meet with our deletion policy either)" But my question would be, If you understand the principle that it is better to expand or fix an article for the reason that it was too short, why would you not apply that same principle to the article Cosmos ? I think I remember seeing that article. Didn't it just need an attribution from the wiki place it came from? Why wouldn't you just find the attribution, and post it so the article could be saved? Instead of saving the article by finding a quick attribution from one of the likely places, you put a Quick Delete request on it? Wow, even worse you mention your deed in your own RFA, as a supposedly good reason that you need admin right? The other admins are too busy? Two days? I think you are not a good choice for administrator at this point. Wait six months, and prove you really do intend to be active. I would probably change to support in six months if you are still with us here at Vikidia then. Good luck! Jilly (talk) 08:07, 18 November 2014 (CET)
Neutral[edit | edit source]Questions/notes[edit | edit source]Comment Please look here [2] to view this guy Klipes vote. I extracted that diff from the history of this page. Like I said. His vote was there when I typed in my vote. As to who erased his vote, or removed it? Wow, in an RFA the asplicant starts saying people voted twice, someone voted under another users name. I need to change my comment up from above. goldenburg111, I think that from this instance at this RFA and your behavior here, you have displayed a temperament unsuitable for administrator. much less for a RFA candidate. I will not shatter anything by saying NEVER, but I would suggest that you wait one year, grow up, and have a better attitude. I may be able to support at that time. Happy Editing!!! Jilly (talk) 23:07, 18 November 2014 (CET)
"Oppose I need to oppose this nomination because of these two item I read when I reviewed your editing recently, and another matter that was brought up during your May 2014 request for patroller rights. InMay it appears there was a concern by a few editors here at Vikidia. I quote,"According to the English Wiktionary, the spelling "colour" is the standard one in the UK and Australia, as well as the one used most in Canada and the rest of the World. The alternate spelling "color" is standard in the US. I don't think we should reject or favour (or favor ) any of them, nor debate on the spelling to be used. What about just trying to keep some consistency within each single article? Klipe (talk) (Jilly added this vote in, which means she voted twice) Why are you bringing up something that was taken care of months ago? --Goldenburg111 (talk) 13:50, 18 November 2014 (CET)" That looks like you responded to Klipe's vote. Why are you acting so childish? I fear you will never have a chance to pass a RFA with these histrionics you have displayed here. Jilly is not on trial here. You are the one that applied for RFA Own up to your mistakes and stop badgering other editors. You have made some unsubstantiated accusations against Jilly. That is a clear personal attack, and would be considered UNCIVIL. Best regards! JohnCCollins (talk) 23:45, 18 November 2014 (CET)
