The Symphony No. 5 in C minor was composed by Ludwig van Beethoven between 1804-1808. It is sometimes called the "Fate" symphony. It is a classic of the concert hall.

The symphony premiered at an all-Beethoven concert on 22 December 1808 in Vienna, Austria, at the Theater an der Wien. Other works on the programme included the Symphony No. 6 "Pastoral" and the Piano Concerto No. 4 in G major.
