A steam locomotive is a train engine (locomotive) that works on steam. They were used much more in the past as we had not yet gotten better fuel sources and electricity for locomotives.

The LNER Class A3 4472 Flying Scotsman was the first steam locomotive to officially reach Template:Convert/mphTemplate:Convert/test/Aon, on 30 November 1934.
