Sergei Mikhailovich Eisenstein (1898–1948) was a famous Russian film director during the Soviet Union. He lived to age 50 years.


His best films were Potemkin and Alexander Nevsky. He was one of the first to use montage and framing where camera shots are edited to show feelings or ideas.
