In Christian religions, a sacrament imparts spiritual grace.
- In the Roman Catholic Church and in the Orthodox Churches there are seven sacraments : baptism, confirmation, The Eucharist, penance, anointing of the sick, ordination for the priest or the pope, and matrimony.
- among Protestants, there are two sacraments : baptism and The Eucharist.
In the Roman Catholic Church the Holy sacrament is the consecrated element of the Eucharist : the bread or Host.
