Propolis

Propolis is a wax-like resinous substance collected by honey bees from tree buds (e.g. poplar) or other plant-related sources and used as cement and to seal cracks or open spaces in the beehive. Many chemical compose different propolis, the varies according the latitude and other local characteristics: flavone and flavonols, chalcones, chromones, and so on[1] A combination of botanical and chemical systems are required for a complete identification of provenance of a sample of propolis; between the first palynological profile is the preferred method, chemistry determination includes an array of chromatographic methods.
