Dick Bruna, birth name Hendrik Magdalenus Bruna (Born 23. August 1927, died 16. February 2017) was a Dutch author, book illustrator and designer. He was born in the province of Utrecht.

His most famous book character is the young female rabbit Miffy. Miffy's Dutch name, nijntje, is a shortened form of the word "Konijntje", which means "Little Rabbit". Dick Bruna wrote over 200 books for children and illustrated all of them himself.
