Catholicism is a form of religion. Someone who is practices Catholicism is a member of the Roman Catholic Church. It is the single largest religion in the world, with more than 1.3 billion followers, and also the largest Christian denomination worldwide.

The head of the Catholic church is Pope Francis. He is also known by other titles, such as the Bishop of Rome, The Vicar of Jesus Christ and the Successor of Saint Peter. His offices are based within the Vatican, which is in the Vatican City, a very small country which exists as part of Rome, but which is independent from Italy itself.

Catholics believe that Mary, the mother of Jesus, gave birth to him but never had intercourse with anyone in order for her to be pregnant.
