Carl Sandburg was a US writer.

He lived from 1878 to 1967 and died at 89.

He is known for his poetry written in free verse.

He won the Pulitzer Prize twice. Once for his biography about Abraham Lincoln, and once for his poetry.

He fought in the Spanish-American War as a young man. He worked as a journalist in Chicago.

He collected and performed American folk songs.

A famous children's book he wrote is Rootabaga Stories.
