The Allies in the Second World War were the military forces of the countries led by Winston Churchill (United Kingdom), Franklin D. Roosevelt (United States), and Joseph Stalin (Soviet Union). Their goal was to fight Fascism in the European war that started officially on September first, 1939, when Adolf Hitler and the Nazi German army invaded Poland.

Hitler joined forces with Italy, led by Benito Mussolini, and Japan, led by Emperor Hirohito. Those countries were each others' allies, but they were called the "Axis" or "Axis Powers."
