The number 666 is associated with symbolism, that is to say that this number evokes very specific facts due to associations of ideas.
According to a sentence from Revelations, one of the Christian books of the New Testament announcing the end of the world, 666 symbolizes the number of the beast which will be on Earth on the day of judgment. This is why the number is sometimes referred to as the Mark of the Beast. It has strong associations with Satan.
This symbolic association has given rise to multiple interpretations. The number being considered evil in popular tradition, scholarly calculations have sought to attribute it to various characters, from Napoleon to Hitler to the Pope.
According to some, this figure simply represents Nero, a Roman emperor who was persecuting Christians at the time the text was written.
