The 15th century is the century from the years CE 1401 to CE 1500.
Major events[edit | edit source]
- In the 1420s, the Ming dynasty ends in China, and it begins its half-millennium of isolationism.
- Succeeding to the Kingdom of Cusco, the Inca empire developed from 1438 to 1533. By the end of the 15th century, its territories spanned about half of today's Peru and Ecuador.
- 12 October 1492: Christopher Columbus completes his crossing of the Atlantic Ocean, inadvertently discovering America as he reached Central American islands instead of Japan or India as he expected.

- In 1452, Leonardo da Vinci was born. He was the figurehead of the Renaissance.
