The Liberal Democrats (Lib Dems) are a political party in the United Kingdom. The Lib Dems are led by Jo Swinson. The party has 17 members in the House of Commons and 96 members in the House of Lords. Also, they have 16 members in the European Parliament, 5 members in the Scottish Parliament and one member in the Welsh Assembly.

The party is in 1981 established between the former Liberal Party and the former Social Democratic Party. It's an centre party, that has both liberal and social democratic points of view. This ideology is called socialliberalism. The Liberal Democrats are a very pro-European political party, who want to stop Brexit by a second referendum. The party wants the UK to continue her EU membership and even to adopt the euro.
